I had many friends who did not know God and I often prayed for them. One day, I went to a convention and the speaker said, “That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. This made me think that I was a sinner too. I repented of all my sins and asked God to forgive me. Then I was very interested to know more about God. When I heard about this institution I was very happy and applied to it.
I am very happy to be here and after completing my course I would like to return to my native place and be an evangelist.

I was born and brought up in a Christian family in Kerala. We belong to Marthoma Church. After completing high school, I joined the A.M.E and started living a wicked life joining with the wrong companions. I was sixteen years old when I accepted God and wanted to serve the youth. When I came to Madras, God taught me not to put my confidence in man, I prayed and cried to God who wonderfully provided my needs.
I came to HBI to study more about the word of God. After completing my course, I would like to work among youths.

I was leading a very bad life until one day I heard the gospel message through Brother Mr. Zachariah Poonen in 1968 March. He spoke for six days but during one of those meetings, I was convinced that I was a sinner. I repented and asked God to forgive my sins and come into my heart. Later, I contacted Mr. Mangkho who told me about Hindustan Bible Institute. That is how by the grace of God I am here today. I would like to complete this course and return home and share God’s word.

Teachings and advice had really changed my perspective especially in the area of preaching. My understanding and approach of the Biblical text had completely revamped for which I am thankful to you. I am also grateful to you for giving me the opportunity to lead cell group which has, in fact, help me a lot in my ministry. On the lighter side, the none stop questions that you raise on the cell training classes had helped me to think deeper and go further. Your initiative for the Spiritual Formation had really helped me to understand the dimensions of other religions' spiritualism. I also thank you for providing us with world-class professors.

Praise the Lord. My 3 years of M.Div studies in HBI was a time of formation for me. I came in without any prior theological education but those 3 years helped me much in the knowledge of the Bible and how to study the Bible. I also acquired knowledge of the original Biblical languages and had ample opportunities to use it for Bible study. Not only acquiring of knowledge, but it was also a time of ministerial and character formation. I can say that God took me to the right place at the right time in my life and equipped me for His service. It was a tough journey due to the stretching workloads but worthwhile. I cannot countless on the friendship and fellowship that I experienced there. Thanks to God and to the institution.

Mastering a skill takes time and Success has to start somewhere; therefore, I wanna say that Hindustan Bible Institute and College is the right place for you to train Biblically and theologically. But always remember that HBI is not for a person with incompetence and lazy. It is a place of learning, shaping and turning one’s dream into reality. Three years in HBI makes me rethink about my life, my dream, my vision and most importantly my relationship with Christ Jesus. I thank HBI for guiding me into a new world of advanced curriculum and activities that shape me spiritually and physically. It was never an easy road, but learning and critical thinking begins from travelling uneasy roads. We should always remember that the hardship and difficulties we face in life are temporary but the knowledge and experience we gain will go with us for eternity. Thank you HBI and Community.

The seminary journey in Hindustan Bible Institute started after searching quite a number of seminaries. At the beginning of my journey, I wondered why and how I ended up here in HBI. At times I have decided to quit, but the voice of God which spoke to me, “You need to be trained in such a way”, drove me and helped me throughout the course. Though it was a long run, filled with struggles, sickness, loneliness, his grace and mercy helped me to sustain. HBI has shaped me and my thoughts trained me as a humble leader that I can withstand faithfully and truthfully for the word of God. HBI taught me “not to be served, but to serve”, the key principle for every servant of God. Also, the role of servant-leadership which serves in transforming the nation for Christ and to disciple each and every individual for the Kingdom of God. Glory be to God.

Three years in HBI has been a struggle but rewarding. The many opportunity-pressures both from academic and spiritual activities pushed me to the next level. My confidence was built and my academic perspective was broadened. I thank God for training me in such a place as HBI. I thank the HBI family for believing in me and investing in me to where I am today.
