THE FOUNDER’S CALLING

A Life Transformed
by Christ

In 1920, in an orthodox Hindu home, a boy named Venkateswami Gupta was born. Raised to follow tradition and trained to become a lawyer, his future seemed carefully planned.

As a young man, he drifted into destructive habits and entered the money-lending business. One day, his father’s warning pierced his heart and became the turning point of his life.

In 1937, he encountered Jesus Christ and experienced complete transformation. Burdened for the spiritually unreached villages of India, he dedicated his life to raising national leaders for the Gospel.

“Obedience to God’s call can change generations.”

THE BIRTH OF HBI

Founded in Faith
in 1952

In a small rented building, with just five students and a borrowed missionary, Hindustan Bible Institute began.

No grand resources. No large campus. Just faith and obedience to God’s calling.

What began as a tiny seed has grown into a nationwide movement with thousands of graduates serving across India and around the world.

Dr. Paul R. Gupta

After the passing of the Founder, HBI entered a season of prayerful transition. God’s mission continued through faithful leadership.

Today, Dr. Paul R. Gupta carries the mantle with a strong passion for disciple-making, leadership development, and global partnerships.

With a PhD in Inter-Cultural Studies from Fuller School of Intercultural Studies (USA), he continues to expand the vision that began with five students.

The Lord is Faithful.
